ASSIGNMENT: SMALL BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT - SUCCESSFUL SMALL BUSINESS

By studying successful entrepreneurs and their companies, you can gain insight into what makes a business successful. Some of the entrepreneurs were able to turn a failing company around, while others grew a new startup from a mere idea. You learned some of these strategies in your ASGN 2 Brilliant Companies.

Select an entrepreneur or company in the articles or lists handed out in class, or use your own, and write a report using the format below. If you want to report on another person or company, please request approval first. Use at least 2 sources in addition to the ones handed out in class and include the reference information at the end of the report using APA format. In-text citations are not necessary.

Length: 500-600 words, Arial 10-point font, double-spaced. Class presentation - handouts and visuals may be used for the presentation.

Written Report

For the written portion, write in paragraph form, using proper grammar and spelling.

Include the following headings and information in the written report.

I. Introduction

Include the name of entrepreneur or business, location, type of business, date started, target market, size in dollar sales currently (if given), and number of employees currently (if given).

2. Brief History

Brief history of the business or founder(s).

3. Challenges

What were the main challenges and how were they overcome?

4. Success Path

Why has the entrepreneur/business become so successful?

5. References

Include your resources following APA format.

Presentation:In-class presentation needs to be 2-3 minutes and visuals can be used.

There will be 2-3 small business spotlights per week. A calendar will be set up for you to select a date. If there are no volunteers to go first, you will pick numbers, so the selection is random. You may switch with each other.
