Assignment one -

In this assignment you are to develop your initial project outline, identify your dataset and state the research hypothesis for your project.

The research outline is an abbreviated version of the components of your paper that indicates the order in which information in your paper will be presented. You can think of it as a "road map" as to how you will lay out an issue that you have identified as important to you, and continue along until you arrive at the conclusions that you will reach at the end of paper.  Your outline should contain at a minimum the following components:

I. Introduction

A.  Statement of the Problem

II. Methodology

A. Type of Research

B. Respondents

C. Data Collection Instrument/Dataset

III. Hypothesis

A. Research or Alternative Hypothesis

B. Null Hypothesis

Two statistical hypotheses are formulated for any statistical test. The null hypothesis is the hypothesis that a researcher wants to disprove or reject. The research or alternative hypothesis is the opposite of the null hypothesis and is the hypothesis that the researcher want to prove. For instance, if we wanted to test the hypothesis that a particular drug worked better than another drug, the null hypothesis would be: drug 1 = drug 2 which states that there was no difference between the drugs. The alternative hypothesis would be: drug 1 ≠ drug 2 which states that there is a difference between the drugs. The research (alternative) and null hypotheses are mutually exclusive which means that they cannot occur at the same time. In other words, one hypothesis is the negation of the other.

Assignment two -

Assignment Instructions:

For this assignment you will take the data you have "collected" and analyze it to present findings through visual displays (Excel graphs) to be included in your final research report due in Unit 4.

To complete the data analysis, you will have to know what statistical tests we have discussed thus far can be applied to best present your "findings".  You will then present your analysis to your Professor for feedback before integrating it into your Final research report.

Criteria for this assignment:

1. Present written data collection including any pertinent information about your sample (dataset), population, etc.

2. Create a minimum of three graphs to provide visual analysis of your findings

3. Describe how the analysis supports your research hypothesis or rejects it.

4. Submit your assigment either in Excel with supporting Word document for Parts 1 & 3, or export your graphs to Word and submit as one document.  Please see supplemental resources on how to export graphs to Word document.

Assignment three -

Your Final will include your data, analysis, descriptive statistics, visual displays, and demonstration of understanding of statistical applications in order to inform business practice

The organization of the paper should conform to APA style requirements and will follow the following format:

  • Title page
  • Introduction - a statement of the research problem, other research findings on the problem, literature review, and the null and alternative hypotheses
  • Method - how the research was conducted, population, how the samples were chosen (dataset information)
  • Analysis & Results - a summary of the statistics of the data, including graphical representation
  • Discussion - an interpretation of the results of the study including implications to inform business practice
  • References - the citations used in the study

Your paper should be at least six pages, double-spaced pages, excluding title page and references.
