Assignment Instructions

Instructions:

Locate a current scholarly peer-reviewed article related to the topic of risk management. Read and critically evaluate the article. Then write a short paper in which you address the following:

1. What did the authors do? Provide a short summary of the article, the authors' methods, and their conclusions.

2. How did the authors apply or contribute to the study of the triple constraint? How does their application or their findings compare to the textbook readings on the topic?

3. What is the next step in the research? What questions are still left unanswered? How could you go about answering them?

Length: At least 2 pages not including front and back matter

References: At least 2 scholarly peer-reviewed references in addition to the article being reviewed. You may use the textbook and other industry sources as appropriate to support your writing, but the primary source of information should be scholarly peer-reviewed sources.

Some things to remember:

• Avoid using direct quotes and string-of-quotes or string-of-paraphrases style. That is, do not merely repeat what others have said. Doing so does not show that you truly understand and can use the knowledge you have attained. Try instead to synthesize the works of others into a unique narrative that is all your own.

• Inline citations are not to be used only for direct quotes. They should be used whenever you mention something that is not as obvious as "the sky is blue."

• Avoid opinions, dictionaries, encyclopedias (including Wikipedia), and other inappropriate reference material.

• Make sure your assignment is organized with appropriate headings and that things flow logically from one to another.

• If you include a "conclusion," make sure it is really a conclusion and that it follows logically from the rest of the assignment. Make sure you say something relevant and useful and don't merely summarize what someone else has said.

Submission Instructions:

• For all papers submitted to this class, APA (6th edition) format is required.

• The cornerstone of academic writing is "compare and contrast" which is what you will be doing when you discuss how your selected article applies to the concepts studied in the course.

• The use of subheadings and table of contents is encouraged as this helps to organize your paper.

• Your assignment will be submitted to TurnItIn automatically. Please ensure that all direct quotes have quotation marks and that all assertions of fact have an appropriate citation.
