Assignment: Instructions for Paper

Instructions on how to analyze the ceremony from an anthropological perspective will be provided. Instructor approval of ceremony attendance is required. Two sets of field notes and an abstract are included.

This experience allows you to see a religious ceremony through anthropological eyes.

Program Learning Outcomes Related to the Paper: 1) The paper will develop your ability to work collaboratively and to understand the advantages and benefits of cooperative activities; 2) The paper will also increase your appreciation for both cultural diversity and multiple ways of knowing that reflect a high degree of self-reflexivity through analysis of another culture as a participant-observer.

Section 1: Provide a brief description of the religion and make sure it includes all of the following if applicable. If the religion does not include the following, simply put "Not applicable" under the heading.

Section 2a: Provide a description of the ritual you attended. Make sure you describe the ritual you attended in detail.

Section 2b: In a page or so, describe your impressions of the ritual you went to. What did it emphasize? How did it differ from other religious rituals you are familiar with?

Topics to cover in research on your religion:

Myth - what are some of the myths in your religion?
Taboo - are there any taboos in your religion?
Ritual - describe the major rituals in your religion
Priests - does your religion have formal priests?
Prophets - are there any prophets in the religion?
Religious Use of Drugs - are there any drugs used in the religion?
Witchcraft - are there witches or witchcraft in the religion?
Divination - is there any means to tell the future in your religion?
Magic - can anyone cast spells or use magic?
Ghosts - are there positive or negative ghosts in your religion?
Souls - do people have souls in your religion? yes
Ancestor Worship - are ancestors actively worshipped

You could write about some of the decoration and compare between the catholic church and mosques, and also compare it with other church.

- We are two students who are not a chaotic and we are a Muslims
