The final course project is intended to develop social innovations to three specific problems in the Turkish society:

Problem 1: Dormitory problem for university students.
Problem 2: Gender gap in education.
Problem 3: Food shortage/Hunger.

I expect you to choose one of these problems and get my confirmation since I do not want you to concentrate only on one problem. Once you choose the problem, you will develop a solution as if you are going to establish a new social enterprise. This exercise is an opportunity analysis written in a business plan format. The analysis needs to be done in groups (around 3-4 people).

The analysis of a new venture should include:

1. What is the social problem that your organization will address? Describe the context of the problem in-depth, supply relevant data for the context (culture, legal, political and economic).

2. How will your organization solve the problem?

3. How is your solution different than what's already out there (either in Turkey or elsewhere)? PLEASE compare your own innovation with at least 2 alternative organizations also trying to address the problem.

4. What organizational form (e.g. non-profit, foundation, government, NGO, for-profit, partnership organization, hybrid) is the best for your organization and why?

5. Who will benefit from your organization? PLEASE do a stakeholder analysis.

6. How will you reach to those that will benefit from your innovation?

7. What is your marketing strategy?

8. What is your operations plan and schedule to deliver the goods/services you plan?

9. Who might feel threatened by your organization such as direct competitors or lobbying groups?

10. What are the resources (capital, human, physical) needed to realize your innovation and how could your organization acquire these resources? Please deliver financial tables and organizational chart.

11. What are the risks of your organization and how do you plan to solve them?

12. How are you going to scale up your model? What might be the measures to use to assess the impact of your organization?
