Assignment 1: Examples of Ethical and Legal I/O Scenarios in Application

Every course in this program has stressed the importance of ethical and legal considerations for I/O professionals. In this discussion forum, you will describe, using between one and three paragraphs, a realistic and specific scenario that has ethical and legal implications relevant to I/O. Your scenario needs to be specific and concise and can be based either on a personal experience or on one that received media attention. Next, you will explain how you would act to resolve the ethical and/or legal problems inherent in your scenario. Refer to an ethical decision-making model in your proposed resolution. Be sure to mention any relevant federal laws and to make a distinction between elements in your scenario that are strictly ethical in nature and elements in your scenario that are governed by federal laws.

A nonexhaustive list of possible topic areas for your scenario includes outsourcing, globalization, compensation, hiring illegal immigrants, corporate social responsibility and the environment, workplace drug testing, discrimination and employment testing, or consultant-client confidentiality in organizational settings.
