ASSIGNMENT -

Task is to complete the table for competitor analysis of TEETH ON WHEEL business (3 competitors mentioned below).

Project purpose-

The team has chosen to extend a business challenge to the company Teeth on Wheels. We have chosen Teeth on Wheels because they are easily accessible as a member of our team is currently employed within their company. In their short time of operation, Teeth on Wheels has established a reputation for being specialists when dealing with patients with dental anxiety and have people flying in interstate, to receive their dental services.

Teeth on wheels acknowledges the fact that one negative dental experience can create dental anxiety. In purpose of defeating dental anxiety, they are committed to providing a happy dental experience for every patient in hopes that one day Australians are comfortable enough to priorities regular dental checkups as part of their routinely health regime. It is said that a strong mission and vision serve as a great guide for a business' decision making (Mullane, 2002). As Teeth on wheels has been successful in identifying their unique company mission, we can use it to coordinate our business challenge ideas and activities.

Dental anxiety develops from a bad dental experience generally occurring during childhood which is why targeting schools is important to Teeth on Wheels. Servicing on school sites gives Teeth on Wheels the ability to target a high volume of children per area. Furthermore, their mobility gives them the ability to reach out to schools all across Victoria. This is beneficial because it means that they are not restricted to the one area. Their emphasis on positive dental experience along with their innovative convenient mobile dental service creates an image unique to Teeth on Wheels differentiating them from other dental services.

By October, Teeth on Wheels would have visited 29 different primary schools consisting of Catholic schools, private schools, special schools and independent schools. In total, their services will take effect on 55 different school with 26 schools still waiting for their turn. They also visit the only 2 detention centers in Melbourne and 35 Childcare centers for onsite dental services.

They reach out to all areas scattered across Victoria but majority (need percentage or number) of their schools are located in regional areas due to the lack of dental options around for parents. In Victoria, there are 1541 state schools, 493 Catholic schools and 207 independent schools totaling up to 2241 schools(Authority, 2015). Overall, 70% of schools in Victoria are primary schools with 859 located in the greater Melbourne region and 698 primary schools in rural and regional Victoria. There is a relatively high proportion of schools, particularly primary schools, in rural and regional areas, where a quarter of the general population live(Authority, 2015)

Teeth on wheels has been running for a year and 4 months now starting out with one dental clinic to 3 today running 5 days a week every school day during school hours. Their schools vary in number of students from just 150 students to over a 1000 students per school so their duration of time at one school can vary from just 3 day to 2 weeks.
