Assignment -
Interview two nurses from any location or specialty who you consider to be leadersin the profession (demonstrate skills, characteristics and/or have experience in leadership).
Verbal consent is sufficient, but please do not identify them in your written work unless they have given permission.
Integrate your findings from the literature and your interviews to construct a 3,500 word essay that addresses the following question:
How can leadership approaches, and a leader's characteristics, influence practice change?
Have a broad understanding of the theory around leadership
Form your own position in relation to the theory
Be aware of the main arguments
Structure your paper to demonstrate to the reader why the writer came to hold their particular position
Be aware of the difference between leadership theories and models
Primarily, leadership style falls under the overall umbrella of leadership theory.
In other words, leadership style is one of many examples covered with leadership theory.
Leadership style focuses specifically on the traits and behaviors of leaders.
The Interview
The purpose of the interview is to assist you to answer the question:
"How can leadership approaches, and a leader's characteristics, influence practice change?"
Developing your questions
Ask yourself, 'what do I want to find out?'
Jot down topics/issues and arrange in logical order
Include common questions and specific questions
Ask both interviewees the same questions so you can compare and contrast the answers AND
Also include specific tailored questions for each person to reveal the uniqueness of their experience
Think of your questions beforehand, but don't be afraid to vary them or add new ones if the conversation goes in directions you weren't expecting. Often the best answers come from questions you hadn't planned! But do stay focussed on your subject - it's easy to be distracted and that won't help you.ave attached the task requirement for this assignment.
