Assignment- Draw a 3D Mug

Starting with the "Assignment- Start Here" file, create a 3D Mug.

1. Open the 2D Drawing - see above

2. SAVEAS using the standard file naming format found on the syllabus

3. Switch to South West Isometric View

4. Draw Guideline #1

a. In the Top View draw a Line that bisects the Big Circle along the X-axis

5. Draw Guideline #2

a. In the Top View draw a Line from the Center of Guideline 1 vertically 4"

6. Draw Guideline #3

a. In the Front View draw a line that connects the midpoint of the line representing the top of the mug with the midpoint of the line representing the bottom of the mug

7. For clarity change the color of all of your Guidelines to Magenta and the line type to Center2 (adjust linetype scale as necessary)

8. Create the Cup Using the Top View

a. Extrude the Exterior Circle of the Mug the correct height - (3.5")

b. Draw a Circle on the top of your new Cylinder (3D OSnap "Center of Face" helps)

i. Use guidelines as needed
ii. 3" diameter

c. Use PRESSPULL to "press" the Circle the appropriate depth into the Mug

i. 3-1/8" down
ii. Be certain that you do not click on the circle, you should click inside it.

9. Create the Handle

a. Turn the outside part of the handle in the Front View into a single Polyline

i. Use JOIN

b. Use 3D Align to movethe outer handle from the Front View to the Top View

i. Use guidelines as needed

c. Use 3DROTATE on the Ellipse in the Top View and select the green axis to rotate 90 degrees.

d. UseMOVE on the bottom quadrant of the Ellipse and place it at the lower endpoint of the Polyline from step 9a.

e. Select the Ellipse and use SWEEP, selecting the Polyline from step 9a as your "path".

10. Switch the Visual Style to Conceptual

11. Use the Base Tool in the Create View Panel of the Layout Ribbon Tab to generate 4(four) 2D Hidden Line Views of the mug in your title block: Top, Front Right Side and an Isometric. The views must be labeled and the scale (2'-0"=1'-0") of the views must be indicated in the Title Block

a. You must be on a Layout Tab in order to access the Layout Ribbon Tab
b. Select the Layout Menu
c. Select the scale indicated above

12. Save the CAD file of your drawing in the required format:

a. (Course name-number) - (section number) - Assignment # - (your name)
- (due date)
b. Example:
i. CAD1a - 01 - Francis Freeman - Assignment 98 - Sep 29

13. Plot an ARCH D- 36"x24" Black & White pdf of the Title Block Layout

a. no plot settings need to be changed unless you're working on a laptop
b. use either the AIA Standard plot style or one of thoes which includes the word "monochrome" to ensure no color in the pdf.
c. leave the pdf name as it appears by default

14. Upload both the .PDF & .DWGto the correct D2L drop box.
