Assignment - The Role Of A Trainee Nursing Associate

Introduction - Including what is a trainee nurse associate and why this role has been developed for the healthcare and then add what you need once you've read all learning outcomes 1 to 4.to build into a intro.

1. Identifiy and discuss the fundamental interpersonal skills and the principles of competent nursing, demonstrating the ability to apply these skills when supporting the regustered nurse in delivering holistic care.

By reading this learning outcome you can have a look and asses what needs to be written to achieve the correct research information.

2. Identify the government policy drivers and reports realting to compassionate carwe delivery

In order to ensure you meet this learning outcome in your assignment please consider the following;

  • What are the origins of the nursing role?
  • Who are the key figures/ theorists that helped to shape the nursing profession? what was their influence/ impact?
  • How has the nursing profession adapted and evolved over more recent years?
  • What is the role of the Nursing Associate in today's society? how does this compare with roles of the past - are their similarities/ differences?

History of nursing

  • NMC & RCN & HEE (You could use these websites.) and Journals too.
  • The 6C'S of nursing (This needs to be included and should be on the internet or journals. The 6C's are Care, Compassion, Competence, Communication, Courage and Commitment.)
  • The reports which include Francis Report, Berwick Report, Keogh Report, (These reports should be on the internet)

3. Review concepts of compassion and apply these in the development of good practice when supporting the registered nurse in delivering holistuic care

In order to ensure you meet this learning outcome in your assignment please consider the following;

  • What is meant by the term 'compassion'?
  • Can you find 4 articles which discuss the concept of compassion and include them in your assignment?- What policy informs our practice?
  • Can you give any examples of events in which compassionate care has not been given? what were the consequences of this?

You could you use the 6C's alongside some articles and journals related to this.

For the 4th question, examples of the event you could look back at the reports, (Francis Report, Berwick Report, Keogh Report).

4. Discuss the moral principles and the ethical theories and tools used to assist in guiding health care decisions that are made by the registered nurse

In order to meet these learning outcomes in your assignment, please consider the following;

  • What skills are required for effective communication to take place in practice?
  • Consider the implications of poor communication and identify any boundaries you may come across in practice
  • How do moral principles and ethical theories guide decision making in practice?
  • How might you influence the decision making process in practice?
  • What challenges might you face?
  • What policy/ legislation drives these standards within the NHS?
