Assignment - Need to revise the work according to the given feedback.

Feedback: Advice on how you could improve this work in preparation for the final module assessment:

For verbal feedback please see audio file attached.

Unfortunately, your progress has been very slow during this Module. You should be using the Exploration module to test the boundaries of your practice by experimenting with different methodologies and by developing your context research.

Currently this is work is not happening at the level expected.

The first thing you need to do is to develop an understanding of what you are doing. At the moment, you talk about three ideas in your viva:

  • The combination of Western and Eastern painting techniques.
  • The differences in traditional Eastern and Western approaches to perspective.
  • The deepening of understanding of Tibetan adornment culture.

Which one of these ideas are you aiming at, and why do you want to work with that idea? Thinking through this by making new artworks at a greater speed will enable you to develop an understanding of what your central discourse is.

You also need to align your work with a broader context research. You need to be using the library and visiting museums and galleries to experience and learn about artworks that are related to your work and can inform what you are doing.

By Summative Assessment, you must have made four new artworks that you can discuss in your viva. You must also make research into two contemporary artists that are linked to your practice, that you have not discussed previously.
