Your Assignment:

• Make an artwork that expresses one of the quotations in a poster form. This is your personal response to the quotation.

• A rough guide is 22 x 30 inches. It needs to be big enough for your classmates to see it when you are presenting

• If you want, you can make a painting, but it must be large enough to be seen by your classmates.

Requirements:

• You must use the whole quotation and the author's name in the artwork itself. You should not put the quotation on a matted frame or on the back of the work.

• This artwork should be original, you can make a collage and/or you may do painting, photograph, or drawing. The work should be big enough to be seen by your classmates when presenting it.

• This piece must be an original work made specifically for this assignment. You cannot do a PowerPoint or digital work. It must be something tactile.

• Put your name on the back of the work.

Generating Ideas:

• Let the words in the quotation become a springboard for images.
• Does the quotation bring up particular colors, shapes, spatial arrangements, forms or scenes?
• How do you relate to the quotation personally?
• Does the quotation relate to class material? How so?
• Which word or words should be emphasized and how so?
• How could the way the words are presented on the paper add to the meaning of the quotation?
