Purpose of the task
The purpose of this assessment task is to introduce students to the conventions of university-level essay writing and research, to develop an argument in written form, and to apply Harvard referencing conventions.
Details
The essay should be 500 words in length and is due on thursday, 5 pm of Week 8. It is worth 30% of the overall mark for the unit and must be submitted via Turnitin.
It is strongly recommended that students make use of Your Tutor before submitting the essays so planning ahead is essential.
Learning outcomes 2, 4 and 5 are addressed:
- define and explain important concepts related to human behavior
- demonstrate knowledge of individual differences and the influence of environmental (cultural) context on behavior; and
- develop an argument in written form and apply referencing conventions.
References and readings
It is expected that students will use four to six scholarly sources in order to adequately discuss the chosen topic. Students may rely on the textbook to briefly explain the topic in the context of one of the psychological perspectives or the Biopsychosocial model. In order to ensure academic level writing, resources should be found through University library research.
