ASSESSMENT TASK

1. Access the fair work ombudsman website fairwork and under the heading ‘employee entitlements' click ‘protections at work'. Write a brief description on what each means:
• Workplace right

• Industrial activities

• Adverse action

• Coercion

• Undue influence or pressure

• Misrepresentation

2. You are required to visit a beauty salon or use the Internet to find a beauty salon that has a complimentary therapist (someone with specialised training) who offers treatments in the beauty salon. Complimentary therapists may be, for example:
• A medical practitioner who offers dermal fillers and muscle relaxants or deep skin peeling and laser
• A plastic surgeon who may offer cosmetic procedures such as implants or injectables
• A physio who may offer physiotherapy in the salon which compliments massage
• A make-up tattooist who offers semi-permanent make-up which is applied via a tattoo gun
Once you have found a salon that has a relationship with a complimentary therapist, you are required to choose a treatment from their menu offered by the complimentary therapist and explain how this treatment ties in well with the other treatments offered by the salon. Please provide a copy of the salon's treatment menu with your answer.

3. You are required to access seek website and search for two jobs in beauty therapy that are different pathways. Different pathways are for example:
• Spa therapist
• Cruise ship beauty therapist
• Island resort therapist
• Salon supervisor
• Waxer in waxing salon
• Make-up artist
• Salon manager
• Massage therapist
• Nail technician
• Spray tanner
Once you have found two jobs, you are required to take a screen shot of the job and save it in a Word document. Then upload it to the LMS with your assessment.

4. You are required to research an Australian beauty trade magazine called ‘Professional Beauty' and give five (5) examples of information that you may find in the magazine;

5. Research one current issue of concern in the beauty industry and write a paragraph below detailing the issue and include a print out or a screen shot of the information you have found showing a recent date.

6. You are required to match the correct insurance and licensing issues to the categories below:
• Public liability
• Council approval/a-frame signage license
• A Diploma of beauty therapy

• Workcover

An employee slips in the salon and breaks a window.
The salon would like to display an A- frame on the council footpath.
