Critical Thinking Report: Apply an Operations Strategy Concept and critically analyse its effectiveness and weaknesses.
Scenario: Imagine that you are the Chief Operations Officer at your current company (or you can choose a production or service organization of your choice). You have noticed that your organization's current operations strategy is not supporting the challenges that the organization is presently facing. In order to maintain a competitive edge, you must address these challenges with your Chief Executive Officer immediately.
Select 4 (four) elements from either the organisation's current business strategy, operations management framework, operations strategy, supply chain, quality management, capacity strategy or operations performance. Analyse your selected elements for the last two financial years. You should be able to obtain these details from the organisation's last two annual reports and other available, relevant corporate information.
You are then to write 3500-word Report CRITICALLY analysing the following points:
1. Does the organisations operational strategy align with its operational efficiency?
2. Identify three (3) operational areas that do not align with the operational strategy.
3. What are the weaknesses that are evident in each area?
4. Formulate a new operations strategy for the selected organization based on the four (4) competitive priorities (i.e., cost, quality, time, and flexibility)
5. Read the attached information on Critical Thinking. Make sure you understand the concept of critical thinking before you write your report. Tip: Link the theory of Operations Strategy to your 4 elements and use this knowledge to begin your critical analysis of the actual results.
Assessment Requirements:
1. You are to include a minimum of 3 suitable academic peer reviewed academic journal articles in your assignment, alongside other relevant materials (organisation documents supporting your critical analysis)
2. Your assessment must not exceed 3,500 words.
