Practical Observation

You must complete all tasks listed within the practical observation.

These tasks can be:
a) Filmed at home or in the workplace
b) Completed face-to-face during workshop training

Task 1: Provide pedicure treatment with mask

You are required to provide a client with a pedicure treatment that includes:
• Sanitise
• Nail trim if requested
• Nail shape/file
• Soak
• Cuticle work
• Exfoliation including callus removal
• Massage
• Mask
• Buff
• Application of nail polish

When completing this service, you must ensure you demonstrate the following essential skills:
• Effective and practical presentation of treatment area
o Appropriate lighting, music and aroma
o Equipment and products are set up, checked and ready to use
o Area is clean and tidy
• Identification of contra-indications and nail condition
• Completion of a client record card and treatment plan to suit client's individual needs
• Appropriate posture to prevent injury and to minimise fatigue during the service
• Efficient use of equipment, products and water to ensure a sustainable workplace
• Effective use of inflectional control procedures including the use of PPE, disposal of waste and ensuring separate clean and dirty areas
