Assessment: Producing a Prezi online informational resource

Assessment overview

For this assessment you are going to be both consumers and producers of information. In order to make the most of the value of social collaboration, you will be doing this as part of a small team. Working in teams is common in both academic and professional environments and the capacity to collaborate is becoming increasingly important; it is predicted that "working in a virtual team will be one of the top 10 skills an employee will need to have by 2020" (Swinburne Online, 2015).

The purpose of this assessment is to apply the skills and knowledge you have gained in the unit so far and to experience online teamwork and collaboration. Your task is to research a topic and then use Prezi (online publishing tool) to create an informational resource that would be of value to anyone with an interest in this topic.

Assessment details-

1. Select a topic from the following list:

  • learning theories.
  • online teamwork.
  • communication styles.
  • learning styles.
  • conflict resolution.

2. Research that topic, using credible sources of information

3. Use Prezi to produce an informational resource related to your topic.

For the Prezi online informational resource

The following is a break-down of the components that you need to be aware of in order to construct this information resource. You must incorporate the following elements into your final submission:

-Team focus

Show evidence of a specific team focus around the topic and information integrated by themes.

-Introduction

Include an introduction for the resource.

-Credible sources

Ensure that credible sources are used in the research, demonstrated through the use of supporting citations in the Prezi.

-Conclusion

The online resource must include a conclusion, citations and a references list. The reference list is not included in the word count.

-Collaboration in the development

Your teamwork must be demonstrated by being recorded in your team's Group Discussion Forum in Blackboard.

-Collaboration in production

The informational resource must also show evidence of collaboration in production. A consistent format and style should be followed by all contributors, as if the final product had been produced by one individual, including consistency in:

  • design
  • text formatting
  • writing style
  • use of resources; such as images and multimedia (videos/podcasts/audio etc.)
  • referencing style (either Harvard or APA).

Assessment criteria

1. Effective use of sources.

2. Collaborative approach in the Prezi informational resource design.

3. Appropriate use of Prezi.

4. Structure: your ideas are presented in a well-structured and logical order.

5. Appropriate language and expression with attention to correct spelling and grammar.

6. Referencing.

Please note:

  • For a team of three to five students, your Prezi online informational resource must typically be 1000 words or equivalent, and may include images, text, video and/or audio.
  • If your team has fewer than three or more than five students, discuss the word count requirement with your eLA.
  • Each team member is responsible for checking in on the team's discussion forum several times throughout the week.
  • Each team member is responsible for keeping the group discussion forum up to date with details about their contributions.
  • Each team member is responsible for submitting a working link to the Prezi in Turnitin.
