Assessment Event 2 - College of Accelerated Learning Simulation
Simulation Background
The simulation centres on the College of Accelerated Learning. It is a fictitious College that is offering the Diploma in Leadership and Management. It is a new college with only this qualification on scope. It has a small enrolment of 40 students, which comprises of two groups of 20. The Owner of the College intends to create a superior College with a strong academic reputation that will attract further enrolments from students wanting not just a qualification but actual skills to be job ready.

As a result, the Owner sought applicants for the Trainers role only from those who had taught at a prestigious university. The owner was particularly impressed with the academic research with two successful applicants. They had not a great deal of experience in teaching to students but had been at the ‘cutting edge' with leadership through their active involvement with the centre for Leadership and Management - a think tank aligned to a university for researching the latest techniques in Leaders of Australia.

The owner had a belief that attendance is the key to academic success for the students. The owner believed that if the student attended class and the Trainers were academic professionals then student learning would be accelerated and subsequently, the reputation of the College would soar.

However, this vision has not occurred. Results for weeks 1-5 are a major concern. As a result, the Owner has sought the services of a Consultant as he is not pleased with the current performance with the new Trainers. This will be your role; a Performance Management Consultantreporting directly to the Owner.

In this assessment, you will undertake a number of tasks associated with managing the performance of its Trainers. In this simulation, you will perform the following actions:

However as the new data for weeks 8 and 9 indicate, performance is not improving therefore you will hold a meeting where they issue a formal first and final warning. However, in week 10, results show no improvement and it was also noted that the listed development tasks were not carried out. As a result you will formally compile a letter of termination.
