Assessment: Essay 1500 words Music in Children's education.

Read the prescribed readings and text in the areas of music education. Develop a short list of what you see as the current debates in the role of music education in the curriculum. Use this knowledge to conduct a database search for a range of journal articles on music education.

Once you have your key areas of discussion formulate an essay structure that includes critique of opposing views and complementing views of the roles of music education.

Your introduction should outline what arguments or key topics your essay will cover.

Each paragraph should gradually build on your arguments.

Always start each paragraph with a topic sentence that informs the reader what the topic of the paragraph is. Follow this with several sentences making your comparative arguments. Ensure all statements are referenced to relevant literature but keep direct quoting to a minimum. A maximum of 10% of your essay can be derived from direct quotes. Paraphrasing should be predominantly used.

Your essay will finish with a conclusion which sums up your arguments and makes concluding statements. The conclusion will also often offer future recommendations. Your essay must use correct referencing in APA style. Please refer to your student handbook for rules on Plagiarism.

Your essay should show evidence that you have read widely on the topic beyond the supplied readings and text.
