Assessment description:
You will gather data to identify business requirements in order to solve a problem and attempt written questions on software development methodology.
Procedure:

2. This is a group activity where each candidate will be assessed individually
3. Complete all activities and submit assessment evidence (including these papers) to your assessor by the date provided.
Case Scenario -
You are recently hired as a Software Consultant for a Company XYZ Cosmetics Pvt Ltd which sells cosmetics and fashion accessories and has 4 sales outlets in Sydney. The Company has Website which contains the Sell module, provides detail information of products available for sell along with the store location. Customers can't purchase products online, only can get idea regarding product details from the sell site.
Due to growth and to keep up with the competition, the company has decided to open a web platform for purchase. The company has asked you with the job of gathering information regarding how they can initiate to establish their online purchase portal. The preliminary meeting with the company's Manager elicited that company is looking to minimize their cost and it is critical that their requirements are met and project needs to finish within the time and allocated budget.
The company has provided you documents on their company overview, current business strategy and plan for future direction (coming three years) to understand their business. They want the purchase module to be finished within a month and you need to make decision on several issues relating to business requirements gathering & analysis, choosing appropriate software development methodology for building Purchase module.
Section 1: Gather data to identify business requirements and select development methodology
Identify and review information sources (organisational documents) provided by the company to get a preliminary understanding of client's business and its functions.
Decide which information gathering technique(s) will suit to gather data about given problem. Justify your reasons behind choosing them.
Make a list of questions for your chosen information gathering technique(s), which you will use to collect requirements from client.
Identify critical factors for client's current and future directions, confirm it with appropriate person and priorities them.
Determine software development methodology which is most suitable to solve given problem on developing Purchase module.
Document your data analysis; a problem scope, objectives, assumptions, required resources, system and business requirements along with appropriate UML diagrams schedule, and appendix as an initial project plan to guide development. Document must follow the documentation standard ISO/IEC/AS (Sample template provided in course resources drive). Show the documentation to your Assessor for approval (to confirm specified requirements)
Section 2: Written questions on software development methodology
Q1. Define the criteria behind selecting software development methodology in Section 1. Compare it with any traditional/non-traditional one.
Q2. Discuss phases (activities) of your chosen methodology in brief.
Q3. Identify control structure, input (pre-condition) and output (post-condition) parameters for all functional requirements identified in your project plan of Section 1.
