Activity 1.1

1. Summarise your organisation's work processes. Include the most important tasks and activities that are linked to producing and delivering your particular products or services.

2. Highlight the digital applications that are currently available and used within your organisation. What applications do you have access to? What applications assist you in your work processes?

Activity 1.2

1. Consider your workplace's operations. Give an example of a type of digital information that you may need to use as an integral part of all/one of these operations.

2. Your next task is to locate this information. Explain how you did this.

3. Now, explain how you would use this within your workplace's operations.

Activity 1.3

1. If you were to assess the validity and reliability of an information source, what questions would you ask yourself?

Now, refer back to the previous activity (activity 1.2).

2. What was the source of your digital information example?

Review this source for its validity and reliability, answering your questions from above.

Activity 1.4

1. Choose a piece of digital information that you may be required to create as part of your role. Outline how you would store this appropriately. What would you name your file?

2. Outline the steps involved in retrieving this information.

Activity 1.5

1. Think about your own workplace and the digital technology that would be relevant to it. Review current and emerging trends and innovations related to this digital technology, using the internet. Summarise your findings here.

Make sure that you explore different trends and innovations to the ones discussed in the chapter. If these do apply to you, explore them further.

Activity 2.1

1. Explain what is involved in the ‘selecting' process. What's involved when you are choosing which digital services and applications to integrate into your workplace?

2. Give an example of a digital service or application that you could integrate into your workplace. Outline how you would integrate it into your workplace; describe the different steps involved in this process.

1. What does ‘fit for purpose' mean?

2. What questions may you ask yourself when deciding whether your digital solutions are fit for purpose?

3. Give an example of when a digital solution is not fit for purpose.

Activity 2.3

1. What are digital innovations?

2. Briefly summarise a possible digital innovation for your workplace.
3. Summarise the different steps that are involved in the process of integrating new digital innovation into workplace operations. Outline things that you should remember throughout the process too.

Activity 2.4

When working within a digital workplace, you will need to identify and adopt digital media protocols and conventions. These protocols and conventions are the different rules, regulations and laws that relate to the particular digital media that you are using within your workplace.
1. Choose two different types of digital media that are (or could be) used within your organisation. Research the relevant legislation and summarise below.

1. Outline the different methods that you could use when training your team members in the application of digital solutions.

2. Choose one of your examples above and evaluate it. Explore its strengths and weaknesses.

3. Outline the different ways that you can encourage and support your team members in the application of digital solutions.

3. RECOGNISE AND APPLY INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY REQUIREMENTS

Identify legislation, regulations and the organisation's policy relevant to intellectual property

Review digital process and applications for compliance with intellectual property requirements

Document, register and report matters related to intellectual property
