Apple has had some issues with shipping in the past. According to Apple Magazine, although the tech giant is known for customer service and “early pre-order deliveries,” they have still had a large amount of slowed and delayed deliveries. Apple states that there are several reasons for these delays in deliveries. The first being that at times, Apple can underestimate the number of products they will need for their customers and underorder. There are many orders that are being placed online while simultaneously trying to stock the shelves in stores which leads to backlogs. Some of the delays can also be due to the suppliers. Suppliers can have the same issues as the Apple stores and not have enough supplies to fill Apples orders. Especially with the amount of orders that Apple receives. Also, it may take some time for Apple to receive some of their items that may come from their international factories. There are so many variables that come into play when an item from an international factory attempts to ship to the United States, and with devices changing hands between Apple, Foxconn, and the Postal Service, it’s easy to see why things can be slow sometimes, especially during times when volumes are low and demands are high. The last issue with shipping is that some orders arrive to the stores and homes of customers damaged. Unfortunately, this is an issue that can occur any company and may be hard to avoid. An alternative for this problem would be to assemble some separate teams dedicated specifically to rectify these shipping issues. There are so many products being produced through Apple it may be hard to keep track of shipping for the iPad, iPhone, watch, TV, Mac, etc. The company would benefit from having teams focused on specific items instead of trying to attempt to keep track of orders and shipping for all Apple products. Focusing on each of these items individually may also decrease the amount of damaged or defective items being shipped. They can ensure the items are packaged well enough where it would be less likely to be damaged while being shipped. Other teams would need to plan in advance with overseas suppliers to ensure that rules and regulations are followed and in order and will not set shipping back. Getting to know the size of their customer base better would help Apple prepare for preorders, online orders and in-store orders. These alternatives should help with the shipping issues occurring at Apple. If there are not enough products for online orders and to stock the shelves in-stores, Apple will not be able to sell as much and could give Apple customers a negative shopping experience with Apple stores.

Describe exactly what the company needs to do. Explain why this course of action will solve your stated problem. Include suggestions on how to best implement the alternative(s) you have chosen. Check the recommendations against the problem you identified; be sure the recommendation “fits” the problem. Add a paragraph in which you express your opinion: how likely is it that the organization would be successful implementing your recommendations?
