Answer this main question:
Clinical counseling / juvenile Behavioral Counselor

As you probably gathered from your exploration in the unit studies, professions in psychology carry a wide range of requirements and responsibilities, including professional credentialing, academic preparation, training, and licensure. While you are pursuing your master's degree, your courses will offer many opportunities to select topic areas for research and writing. The time you have spent thinking about your particular professional interests will enable you to select topics that will make the best use of your work in future courses.

This discussion asks you to identify what you will need to pursue these interests-both the competencies you will need in your field, and the licensing and certification requirements you will need to practice.

To prepare for the discussion, pull together what you have learned from your career exploration, the reading in the Sternberg text related to your strongest interests, your investigation of licensing requirements, and any professional organizations in your area of interest. Use this discussion to clarify for yourself what you will need in two specific areas: professional competencies and licensing requirements.

In your initial post, respond to the following questions:

• Competencies: What skills and abilities are most critical to success in your specialization? What strengths do you already bring to this area? What insights did you gain from the Sternberg text related to your career vision?

• Requirements: What particular license, certification, or other requirements will you need to pursue the kind of career you envision? What professional organizations govern your specialized field? What questions do you have that you have not yet been able to answer?

This course began almost two months ago, and I had some clues about career goals and my future plans. As I stated earlier I just graduated from my Bachelors' program back in April. I'm an organized person. I did have plans and knew what I was going to graduate school for, but this course has change that. Life does not happen the way we intend it to. With all that being stated the specialization I am now training for is Applied Behavior Analysis. I would hope to gain a profession as a ABA therapist, Board Certified Behavior Analyst, and a Marriage and Family Therapist working with autistic children and counseling families who needs aid coping with children with ASDs. The skill and abilities I think one must possess is being able to interact with children. One must possess high energy and take constructive directions from others. One must be animated and must be able to teach on a level that a child with impairments can grasp. Most of all an individual needs to be passionate. I possess that passion, and I already have a strong understanding of what a person should be in this profession. Sternberg introduction was great. As we all know psychology is a very board field, but as he stated it's easy to do something else. If you want to switch careers in psychology you can do so with ease. I found that interesting. College students who decide to major in psychology; therefore, open up a world of possibilities for themselves. Sternberg (2007). I was ecstatic to know that once you have a career in psychology you can do some many different things in that career.

I research through Capella to see where and what license is needed in the state I reside in. To become a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) I would need to obtain a Masters in behavioral analysis while completing Approved Course Sequence coursework, complete supervised shadow hours with a BCBA to gain some experiences, and completing the BCBA exam. To obtain a Marriage and Family Therapist license through the Texas State Board of Examiners Marriage and Family Therapists. There are other directions I can go into with this specialization that require other licenses, but for now I think I'm elated to focus on those the two listed.

"Clinical Psychology is the branch of the disciples that is concerned with the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of psychological issues, including maladaptive thought patterns, problematics behaviors, distressing feelings, learning difficulties, and interpersonal problems" (Sternberg, 2007, p. 101). A clinical psychologist would be classified as a health care provider that has knowledge in psychological health, as well as physical health to assist clients at the levels of individual, community, and societal. The types of questions used by a clinical psychologist would be to determine an individual interaction when in specific situations?

A clinical psychologist when analyzing groups need to take into consideration the group identities context, as well as the meaning they place on these identities as they relate to a certain individual and/or a group.

"As the disciple of psychology matures, clinical psychologists have become more and more attuned to context and culture, realizing that individuals exist not in isolation but, rather, in relationship and to their worlds" (Sternberg, 2007, p. 102). The development of a psychologist during this time would be very exciting. The expansion of the present research, as well as theory may be incorporated into a diverse aspect. The development in clinical psychology would expand over time, allowing an introduction to the promotion of health, alternative to understanding our patterns of growth, changes encountered in our lives, a client's resilience, as well as unique methods for assisting old problems.

The attributions that contribute to the field of clinical psychology suggests no special formula for providing certain traits required for achieving success. The attributed which may assist in fostering success, as well as growth within the field of psychology. The development of having a strong skill set would be able to assist, but the main facet would be to have a strong ability to solve problems. "Problem solving abilities entail a duel vision, meaning that you must keep an eye on the big picture and the details at once" (Sternberg, 2007, p. 111). This specific skill set would include gathering information, thinking about different opinions of the information you currently have available, as well as increasing the level of the interactions with others in your field or associates.

The relationship with being able to solve-problems would be based on critical thinking skills.
