• Progress has been made on creating more gender equality at the workplace and in society, but inequalities remain. On average, women both earn less than men and perform more of the work within the family realm. Critically assess the relative role of individuals, unions and government policy in promoting a desirable distribution of responsibilities (and rewards) between men and women in advanced capitalism.

• What are the most promising strategies for labor/social movements to rekindle solidarity and organize collective action in the face of social divisions and distributional conflicts in the contemporary United States? Review challenges and make an argument about which framing and repertoires of contention can best meet them.

In your answer, make reference to readings/videos on social coalitions and elaborate the role of "respect" for different groups' needs and human rights.
