Analyse impacts of sociological factors on clients in community work and services Assignment

Task -

This is to undertaken with three (3) clients.  Minimum of 100 hours in community services workplace is required as evidence for this unit. 

Write a portfolio for each client to demonstrate this performance evidence.  In this portfolio include the following:

1. Examine and identify possible effects and consequences of conditions and experiences of inequality on each client.

2. Identify impacts of long-term unemployment and associated issues 

3. Clarify health and wellbeing 

4. Decisions made linked to information gathered

5. Gather information on social and /or cultural issues

6. Impact of work that you have undertaken on the client 

7. Review effectiveness of this work 

8. Review identified social and cultural factors impacting on client

9. Social and cultural issues to enhance better outcomes.

10. Show how this follows organisation's policies and procedures

Assessment 1 -

Write a historical perspective on the social and cultural institutions within Australia. Include the following

1. Families in Australian society

2. Gender roles (especially in workforce)

3. Major institutions in Australian society (media, health system) and their impact on the community

4. Culture, social structures and power

Assessment 2 -

Discuss the effects and consequences of unemployment on Australian Society include

• Potential effects of unemployment of people's lives
• Range of outcomes of unemployment on society
• How unemployment and affect a person' health and well being

You may wish to look at statistics and current trends.

Assessment 3 -

1. Describe your understandings, biases and beliefs about the following age groups

• Teenagers
• Older citizens
• Indigenous groups
• Cultural groups

In your response consider your thoughts in regards how stereotypes and beliefs develop.

2. Write some strategies to develop a positive view of these groups in society.

3. Discuss how you monitor your work role with regard to the social and cultural factors for one of the groups listed above.

4. Discuss how you would review the effectiveness of your work role with regard to the social and cultural factors for one of the groups listed above.

5. If the review demonstrated an issue, what is your response within the organisation's policies and procedures.

Assessment 4 -

a) Discuss factors that influence health and well being in our society by referring to what would impact upon you if you lived in the following locations

1. Sydney

2. Lismore

3. Alice Springs

b) Now look at these areas and discuss how you would be affected if you were from an indigenous group or from another culture.

c) How has government policy decisions influenced general health and well being.

Assessment 5 -

1. Discuss the latest trends that influence government social policy.  

2. How is the political system influenced by economic issue?

3. How has Anti-discrimination legislation affected our society?
