After the atrocities of the Second World War, western nations vowed “never again” and have diligently erected museums and educational programs to keep the Holocaust and other events in historical memory. Despite this, genocide and War Crimes continue to be committed with alarming frequency and in the last two decades have occurred from Asia to Europe and Africa with little western response. Why are War Crimes and genocides so frequent? Why do western nations committed to stopping such events, continue to allow them to occur? Is there an ultimate cause for the lack of effective response to genocide? What might that be?
