ACTIVITY 2: ANALYZING INTERPERSONAL ATTRACTION

Instructions:

1. List the names of TWO people with whom you have strong positive personal relationships. Use the questions that follow to identity the basis of your attraction. Answer each question for each of the two chosen relationships.

a. Are their interests, attitudes, values, beliefs or backgrounds similar to yours? Discuss.
b. Do they fill a complementary need for you? Explain your response.
c. Are you attracted to this individual? Are they attracted to you? Keep in mind that "attraction" is not limited to physical attraction. In other words, do you feel drawn to this person and are they drawn to you? Discuss why or why not.
d. Have they shared personal information/self-disclosed with you? Explain why or why not.
e. Do you encounter them frequently? In what ways? How does this impact the relationship?

2. Now consider TWO people with whom you would like to build a stronger relationship. Use the same questions as above to decide whether you are the kind of person they would be attracted to. Answer each question for each of the two chosen relationships.

a. Are their interests, attitudes, values, beliefs or backgrounds similar to yours? Discuss.
b. Do they fill a complementary need for you? Explain your response.
