A robot is used in a seam welding process. The robot is programmed so that it tracks the product on an overhead conveyor and welds the seam. The tolerance of the deviations of the weld from the center of the seam is ? 0.005 in. The system, a vision device, guides the robot along the seam rather than using the original defined programmed points along the seam.
