Abstract:-The international community today is faced with the dilemma of nuclear proliferation. It has proved to be the gravest challenge for mankind for its catastrophic nature has the tendency to send mankind back to Stone Age. In order to fight of this obtrusion to the
global peace treaties, regimes and agreements have been established. NPT is the penumbra of these efforts that has served to enroot non-proliferation regime in the international law. But this treaty has a lot of loop holes which have been manipulated by the member states to serve their purpose and in turn challenge the validity of the treaty due to the presence of anarchical international system. In the light of this the international community has to resort to certain measure in order to ward off these problems .The need of the hour lies in genuine effort and collaboration of the north and south to promote the NPT agenda. The methodology adopted by the researcher is descriptive analytical and deductive paradigm.
