A company attends a tradeshow in another country and when they got to the airport the customs officials would not clear their $20,000 worth of gear and technology for loading onto the plane until he is given $5,000. At that time paying off an “expediter” is an acceptable practice for getting foreign goods through customs and out of the country. This also occurred in another foreign country for the company. Is this a case of ethical universalism and ethical relativism?
