Case study 1:

A 26 year old male presents with glandular fever. It was diagnosed 4 weeks ago and he is still feeling quite unwell. He did have an enlarged liver for a couple of weeks but the doctor has told him that his liver is now normal. He is still getting some muscle and joint pain and feels extremely fatigued. He does take the antidepressant paroxetine, which he has been on for 6 months. This has helped with his depression and he would prefer to continue with this at the moment. The only other medication he uses is the anti-inflammatory Ibuprofen when the joint and muscle pain is getting too much.

Case study 2:

A 29 year old female presents with on-going issues with her menstrual cycle. Her periods are very heavy with lots of clotting and pain. She has also been trying to conceive over the past year without success. Recent investigations determined that the client has endometriosis. She feels very tired and also reports that she gets nausea quite often and is prone to constipation. She is not on any medication apart from using a NSAID for menstrual pain.

Case study 3: A 46 year old male comes for a consultation as his libido is low and he has erectile dysfunction. This has occurred progressively over a couple of years and is now impacting on his relationship. He reports feeling quite stressed but feels that he is stressed because of the erectile dysfunction. He sleeps well but his energy is quite low and he finds it hard to get motivated in the day. He recently saw his doctor for a checkup and reports that his bloods were mostly normal but his cholesterol was on the high side. The doctor did not measure his testosterone. He does not have any other health issues.
