2. Do you agree the below paragraph is a good topic for Rhetorical Analysis to show the writer's Ethos, pathos and logos and why? (write around 150 words)

To get past the Boston Marathon attack, everything must return to normal, as if nothing ever happened. Thomas L. Friedman's article, "Deb, Boston Marathon Attackers with a Return to Normalcy" was published in The Seattle Times on April 17, 2013. Thomas writes about the recent Boston Marathon terrorism attack that occurred on April 15. He discusses why this happened and how to best respond to a situation such as this. Thomas Friedman is an Op-Ed columnist for The New York Times, although his work appears in many newspapers. Friedman has won numerous Pulitzer Prizes for commentary and international reporting. He has served as chief economic correspondent in the Washington bureau and was chief White

House correspondent. He has also done a lot of traveling for his work, including spending time in Lebanon and Israel (Thomas). Friedman is arguing that after a terrorism attack, such as the Boston Marathon attack, it is best to return life to a sense of normalcy as fast as possible. Friedman appeals to logos the most in this article by convincing the reader that Americans must not dwell on the attacks, but instead return to normal, saying that "cave dwelling" is only for terrorists. Ethos is used to establish his credibility as an author; and pathos is used to evoke emotion from the reader, to better persuade the reader that it is best to return to normal after a terrorism attack Friedman's argument is strong and persuades the reader well, although his appeal to ethos is lacking, as his credibility to write on such a subject is not too apparent.
