1. Researchers wanted to test out a new drug that was designed to reduce anxiety among those who suffer from social anxiety. They gave the first group a placebo, the second groupa low dose of the medication and the third group a high dose of the drug. Below are the results from the study.

A. State the null and research hypotheses.

B. Set the level of risk (or the level of significance) associated with the null hypothesis.

C. Select the appropriate test statistic. - What test statistic would you use to find the F value?

D. Compute the test statistic value.

a. Compute by hand as well as in SPSS. Be sure to provide your work as well as the SPSS output results.

b. If necessary, run a post-hoc analysis in SPSS (Bonferoni)

E. Determine the value needed for rejection of the null hypothesis using the appropriate table of critical values for the particular statistic.

F. Compare the obtained value and the critical value.

G. Make a decision. With this information would you conclude that the results are significant? Why or why not?
