1. Read Mt 17:40, Luke 8:26-39; 9:37-43; 11:24-26. Seizures are associated with a brain disorder known as epilepsy, and over 40 different disorders of the brains. In over 50% of cases, no obvious cause could be identified. In the bible people most likely suffering from seizures were considered to be possessed by demons. Describe the symptoms of epilepsy that would lead people to think that seizures were demonic in origin. Using your knowledge of neurophysiology, what do all these disorders have in common? In other words, what is the underlying cause of an epileptic seizure?

2..There are many references to Jesus healing people suffering from various forms of paralysis (Acts 8:7, 9:33; Mark 2:3; 3:1, Lk 5:18, etc.). Choose your favorite passage regarding paralysis or shriveling of muscles and describe the relationship between nerve supply to muscles, normal muscle tone and function, flaccid paralysis and muscle atrophy.

3.Read 1 Samuel 25:37-38. Discuss how the combination of excessive alcohol and the stunning news from Abigail precipitated Nabal's stroke or heart attack.

4.Genesis 2:7 states, "Then the LORD God formed the man from the dust of the ground. He breathed the breath of life into the man's nostrils, and the man became a living person." Job 34:14-15 says, "If God were to take back his spirit and withdraw his breath, all life would cease, and humanity would turn again to dust." NLT

5. In a general sense, discuss the correlation between how the various digestive organs carry out specific functions that achieve one main goal, digestion, and the biblical use of the word to describe various "feelings". By the way, the Greek translation of the term, organ, means tool or instrument.

6. Discuss how stress can causes excessive and prolonged cortisol release and the disease state that may result from this.

7. Sunstroke was a common danger in biblical days (2 Kings 4:18-20). Comment on the role the kidneys play in adjusting electrolyte and fluid balance as a result of sunstroke.
