1. Create a Production Schedule for January to May and identify any issues that may affect achievement of the Schedule. Use the information outlined in the Scenario below in conjunction with the Bill of Material, Routing, Demand and Stock provided. In order to arrive at the schedule, work through the additional formatted worksheets provided ie

  1. MPS
  2. BOM Extension (use this spreadsheet to identify those ingredients which will require restocking during the schedule period)
  3. MRP (You do not have to do MRP grids for all of the ingredients and packaging materials shown in the Bill of Material-only the ones where there is insufficient stock to cover the MPS requirement as identified in the "BOM Extension". Then create the MRP grid for those products).
  4. Load
  5. Schedule
  6. Reorder Point

Provide a copy of your data and your Production Schedule. Your Production Schedule will be the first draft only and you need to include in your report any constraints or issues you find.

b) What time frame did you choose and why?

c) What constraints influenced your Schedule? How did you address the constraints?

d) What departments and external workplaces would you communicate with during the scheduling process in our example?

e) What are the results of your Production Schedule as they relate to the Customer?

f) What are the results of your Production Schedule as they relate to Production?

g) What are the results of your Production Schedule as they relate to Purchasing?

h) Who will receive a copy of your Production Schedule and why do they need it?

i) For each recipient would you vary the schedule format?

j) Is there anything in the workplace details outlined in the Scenario that you believe will cause the workplace future costs?

k) What technology would have assisted you in creating the Production Schedule?

l) Do you have any overall comments about the process of creating a Production Schedule for our example workplace?
