Why do you think that pharmaceutical companies, for example, spend more time researching diseases that affect wealthy nations than diseases that are killing more people in poorer countries?

2-Why is the environment considered a part of sociology? What effects does the environment have on societies?

3-Class, what do you think are some of the necessary steps that we need to take as a society to make changes that help our environment? Do you think that Americans in general are willing to consume less? What kinds of cultural changes would be needed? Do you think that these are likely to happen?

4-What might be some of the reasons, outside of having medical insurance that might make it difficult for some groups to get medical attention in the United States? How might language barriers and cultural differences play a role? How can we change the medical field to allow for more people to get seen and to get good medical care? How can we extend these services more universally around the globe?

5-Class, do you have any idea how much you yourself consume? There is something called an ecological footprint and it lets you see how many earths it would take if everyone consumed like you? Do you think that as a society we need to make large changes to be more conservation based towards the environment?
