1) Choose and identify one of the sociology-related careers-----(SOCIAL SERVICES).

2) If you know your career-path is different than these options, you can choose it instead.

3) Utilizing the most current government data available, determine and describe the distribution for your occupation based on at least one socio-demographic characteristic (e.g.. age, race/ethnicity, gender, sexuality, SES).

a. i.e. What proportion of the occupation is women? Men?

i. In order to do this, you will need to access the Statistical Abstract of the United States

ii. Scroll down to Table 603: Employed Civilians by Occupation, Sex, Race and Hispanic Origin.

iii. The Occupational Outlook Handbook (http://www.bls.gov/oco/) and the organizational websites from Week 3 DB may also prove to be helpful resources.

4) Review the table and determine the sector of the economy in which your chosen profession resides.

5) Finally, for your chosen occupation, determine the difference in median weekly earnings between people based on your previously chosen socio-demographic characteristic (i.e. women and men who are full-time wage and salary workers.)

- This will involve some detective work on your part.

6) Report on your chosen occupation and findings. Include two thorough and succinct paragraphs summarizing the job responsibilities and career outlook for your chosen occupation. (Remember to use APA formatted citations for ALL paraphrased and directly quoted information)

7) Is this in line with what you expected to find? Why, why not?
