1. Be familiar with the intro to sociology concepts such as the definition of sociology, the sociological imagination, and so forth.

2. Define all the important terms, a sample (not a complete list) would be race (can’t emphasize this one enough. Be able to define it, what it isn’t, how it’s a social construction and how we know it is and so forth), ethnicity, optional ethnicity, dominant and subordinate group (and characteristics of a subordinate group), racism, prejudice, discrimination and social stratification.

Be familiar with the general racial populations of the United States as well as our current future projections.
