Unnecessary Outsourcing

Many law firms have, for years, outsourced payroll functions rather than preparing their own checks or tax returns. However, today, computer software and applications make many law office administrative tasks easier than ever before.

Imagine that you are the office manager of a group of paralegals at a law firm. You have been assigned by the managing partner of the law firm to investigate, and report on, possibly outsourcing some of the legal research that is performed daily by your paralegal team.

Prepare a memorandum of no more than 1 page that addresses when and how various types of technologies are being used to perform legal research by your paralegals. Discuss the internal efficiencies and any other benefits that occur with the use of technology. Use this data to support why you feel outsourcing legal research tasks is not necessary. Explain your answer.
