The course assignment consists of an individual portfolio of two pieces of work, using a report format. 

Part 1 Report – Ethics, Responsibility or Sustainability in Business (approx. 1500 words)

The first piece of work is an individual report on a task related to CSR, sustainability or business ethics. You are asked to apply the perspectives and models, explored in the module, on the CSR/Sustainability/business ethics issue(s), problem(s) or strategies and propose improvements and alternatives. You should choose an organisation or industry that you are familiar with (or have knowledge of) and discuss key ethical/responsibility issues in the context of the chosen organisation/industry. You may use one large issue or two/three smaller issues (depending upon the nature of the issues).

 

Part 2 Reflective piece (500 words) 

You are required to submit your reflections on the personal, organizational and societal values which underpin and inform the analysis and conclusions of your report (Part 1).

1.   Describe adequately frameworks of CSR, sustainability and business ethics ( part 1)

2.   Evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of business policies and practices related to CSR, sustainability and ethics ( part 1)

3.   Demonstrate ability to use frameworks of CSR, sustainability and ethics in designing business policies and practices ( part 1)

4.   Show awareness of the influence of personal, organisational and societal values on business decisions (Part  2)

Assessment Criteria 

The portfolio should present:

·         Adequate knowledge of the frameworks of CSR, sustainability or business ethics,

·         Critical evaluation of the business policies and practices related to CSR, sustainability or business ethics

·         Appropriate use of the CSR, sustainability or business ethics frameworks in designing business policies and practices

·         Theoretical, ethical and methodological reflexivity 

Ethical Requirements 

The assignment does not require the collection of primary data. However if you choose to collect primary data (quantitative or qualitative), then, you are required to follow the Aston university’s research ethics guideline.
