This assignment will again use the "movie_data_sample.xlsx" data set, consisting of 250 movies randomly selected from the OpusData database. This is the data set you have been working with in the last two assignments.
In all parts of this assignment, if you are asked to do a calculation, show a graph, or make a table, be sure that you include "introducing words° before it. Do not just place it there without telling the reader, clearly and specifically, what they are about to see. These "introducing wonis" can be simple; for example, you could write °The following
shows °, or "To calculate , we . "
1. (This problem relies heavily on the material on sampling distributions in the "Basics of Inference" module.) Use the original data set of 250 movies (i.e., not the reduced data set only containing movies with budgets of at least S1 million) to do the following.
(a) Explain, clearly and specificallg, why this data set is better thought of as a sample from a process rather than a population. Hint: what would the "population of all movies" look like?
(b) Display a fully labeled histogram of the "domestic_rev" variable, the total box office money (in millions of dollars) earned through ticket sales in the "domestic market," which comprises the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, and Guam. Flint: You may already have this from Assignment 1. If so, you can just copy it here. Don't forget the °introducing words!"
(c) Discuss whether it is reasonable to assume that "domestic_rev" has a normal distribution. Discuss specific features of the graph that lead you to conclude that it does or it doesn't.
