The Patriot Act and the Homeland Security Act of 21st Century form the foundation of the United State's domestic response to the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Most of the legal and political voices have advocated that these acts have resulted in the reduction in the rights of citizens and a loss of civil liberties.
