9-12 pps, doublespaced, not counting required Works Cited section.
You may include graphics if you wish (e.g., charts, graphs, illustrations, etc.) but the total of the text portion not including those graphics must fall with the 9-12 page guidelines.
Use at least three sources.
These must be sources that are appropriate for an academic paper, so Wikipedia, blogs, etc. are not acceptable unless you are analyzing them as examples of a particular thematic element.
Remember that depth is more important than breadth: you need to analyze a critical issue rather than superficially summarizing its appearance in different parts of the world. You must discuss your topic in terms of global, not merely local/regional, issues. Just describing something historical, or mentioning that it can be found in more than one place, is not the same as discussing how it ties in to globalization!
If you choose this option, you must email me a one-paragraph abstract of your paper at least two weeks before handing in the paper - term papers will NOT be accepted without a prior abstract. This assignment must be submitted to Turnitin.com via Canvas.

- Do you agree with Marx that history is heading inevitably to a clash between those who do the work and those who take advantage of them, one which will end with socialism, freedom, and equality for all? Provide a historically-based argument for why you agree or disagree with the statement.
- Does history repeat itself? George Santayana famously said that "those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." Construct a nuanced argument on whether you agree with this viewpoint, supporting it with evidence from the text and other sources.
- Is religion dying? Some believe we are moving to a post-religious era, thanks to the rise of scientific understandings of the world. Make an evidence-based argument (i.e., based on more than just your feelings, or your personal religious convictions!) on why you agree or disagree with that viewpoint.
