problem 1) Metro Association is organizing a brochure which they think might be of interest to future homebuyers in Middletown and Brockton areas of city. One item of interest is number of year’s children stays in similar district for schooling.  Sample of 40 households with school-aged children in Middletown was randomly chosen.  Mean length of time in district was 7.6 years, with standard deviation of 2.3 years.  Sample of 55 households in Brockton shown mean length of time in district was 8.1 years, with standard deviation of 2.9 years. At 0.05 level of significance, can you estimate Middletown students stayed in their districts less time than Brockton students?  Use five-step hypothesis testing procedure.

problem 2) A sample of 40 observations is chosen from one roughly normal population. Sample mean is 102 and sample standard deviation is 5.  A sample of 50 observations is chosen from a second source. Sample mean is 99 and standard deviation is 6. Carry out a hypothesis test using.04 level of significance to find out if there is a dissimilarity between population means.
