Respond given discussion post:

The Tea Party Movement burst onto the political scene following the 2008 elections. The Tea Party is not one national movement but a rather different groups loosely aggregated into an over-arching movement (Eger and Lewiston, 2012). The Tea Party is a movement that focused on the corporate conservative agenda of fighting the "socialist takeover:" defeating health care reform, lowering taxes on the wealthy, demanding a reduction in federal spending, lifting corporate regulations, and restricting union rights. The Tea party's moral center is the market and the supposed freedom of the marketplace. The Tea Party does not only focus on fiscal issues but also feel passionately about social issues such as immigration (Trost and Rosenthal, 2012).

Occupy Wall Street is the most significant social movement to utilize transgressive protest tactics in the United States in the last forty years. Activists gathered in 2011 to protest against many things including: corporate influence in American politics, the inadequate federal response to issues stemming from the 2008 financial crisis, and the growing income inequality gap. Occupy Wall Street reshaped American public life (Calhoun, 2013). One thing that both the Tea Party Movement and the Occupy Wall Street share in common is that they are both grassroots movements. Both movements fight for the interest of the citizens of the United States, and would be involved at the DRNC event to oppose some government policies and programs through protest and demonstrations.
Political movements in the past fought for civil rights, universal adult suffrage, equal opportunity, and against racial segregation and discrimination. Occupy Wall Street and the Tea Party Movement are fighting for financial freedom for the American populace and economic stability in the country. Both movements are fighting for policies that will benefit Americans. Political movements in the past had leaders that run the day to day administration of the movement. Occupy Wall Street and the Tea Party Movement had no leaders.
The Tea Party Movement has its roots only in America receiving most of its funding from corporate sponsorship. Occupy Wall Street was a global grass root movement which was funded by people around the world and had no corporate sponsorship. Occupy Wall Street wants less corporate influence over the Government whilst the Tea Party Movement wants less Governmental influence over corporation. The Tea Party Movement has become political, participating in political campaigns with their representatives. Occupy Wall Street in non political and do not want to be associated with any political group.

To ensure a violent free DRNC event, I will recommend maximum security before and after the event. Officers should be trained on how to handle protesters. Occupy Wall Street protesters have been labelled as violent and as such necessarily steps should be taken to prevent them from been aggressive. The Police Department should gather intelligence on these movements from other law enforcement agencies and include them to provide security. I will recommend that Officers should be dispatched among the protesters to enable them apprehend anyone who tend to be violent. The Miami-Dade Police Department should sit down with the politicians associated with the Tea Party Movement and have them talk to other Tea Partiers to demonstrate peacefully without any violence. The Police Department should also educate protesters through the media that they could get their message across to politicians through peaceful demonstration as well not only through violent protest.
