Respond given discussion post:

The Tea Party is an organization that consist of grassroots groups that developed in early 2009 (Boykoff&Laschever, 2011). The tea parties vision is based on power and what needs to be done in order to keep it. Some issues that are a major concern of the Tea Party are the deficit and the size of the government (Boykoff&Laschever, 2011). There flowers differ from one another some are libertarians and others are conservatives (Etzioni, 2011). The Tea Party movement expresses long-felt conservative frustration with the professional conservative class that has been centered around Washington since Reagan (Russello, 2012).

The Occupy Wall Street Movement is an international protest group against a broken economic compact. The Occupy Wall Street Movement was inspired by Arab Spring protest in Zuccotti Park in the financial District of New York. The goal of this group is to fight against the system which allows the rich to get richer and the poor to become poorer. This group highlights issues that have been hidden in news coverage before the protest (Dean, 2102). A factor that fuels the Occupy Movement is political disenfranchisement.
These two movements differ from one another in several different ways. Starting with the demographics where the Tea Party consist mostly of whit wealthy males the Occupy consist of younger ethical and social diverse individuals. Next is a difference in tactics the Tea Party protest includes rallies with sound, stages and speakers while the Occupy sets up tent cities and organizes committees (Reyes-Chow, 2011). But the most important differences is the purpose. The tea Party has specific goals and objectives and the Occupy have no particular platform.

The similarities of both the Tea Party and the occupy movement are they are both feed up with organizations within the government that have over steeped their bounds. Also they put a lot of energy into large gatherings in order to be seen and express passion and clam to represent a portion of citizens who share their concerns. Lastly they both have had individuals of status that vow their support and those who are in their group that act in a way that does not embody their values.

Due to that fact that both the Tea Party an Occupy Movement are strongly involved in politics they will definitely be invloved in the upcoming DRNC conference. My recommendation for the police department would be to provide extra training and security to control the Occupy movement. Because they are much younger they have less experience on how to control their anger and are also known for being violent. There group will have to be the focus point due to their history of protest that have gotten out of hands. As for the Tea Party no extra measures are need but it would be an idea to watch for members of the Occupy movement trying to disrupt their protest.
