An important part of the implementation part of the helping process is identifying services by locating them and building a referral system. Describe a viable strategy for building a referral base of providers. How would you ensure that the quality of their services is sufficient to meet the needs of the clients who are being referred? Read Ch. 2 of Prisoner Reentry in the Era of Mass Incarceration.

Why would understanding diverse clients be important to you during the reentry planning process? • This reading highlights specific barriers that pose substantial challenges for incarcerated individuals who reenter communities.

• This reading shows why women with prior histories of trauma and abuse are more likely to engage in offender behaviors. Women offenders also have higher rates of substance abuse and drug use compared to male offenders.

3. "Sex Differences in the Predictors of Prisoner Misconduct"

• This reading highlights why women have some unique circumstances compared to men that often create higher risks for offender behaviors.

What unique challenges do women face in their lives? What would be a useful intervention to reduce the related lifespan risk?
