Question 1. It has been suggested that some employees are quick to file law suits when they believe that they have been wronged during their employment. It is true that we live in a very litigious society and citizens in general appeal to the courts when they believe that they may be able to receive "compensation" for actions of others that cause them either real or perceived harm. Just look at the commercials that we see on TV where attorneys are advertising their services to represent individuals in these claims. Many companies do "settle" these claims and consider them "nuisance suits" rather than attempt to defend itself and pay exorbitant legal fees that could cost much more than the settlement amount. What is your opinion of this state of affairs and what can HR do to address this issue?

Question 2. There are some people who may or may not perceive certain things as sexual harassment, but that doesn't mean that it does not exist. Where is the good balance between joking and going too far?" This is an interesting question and sometimes, especially in hostile environment cases, sexual harassment is in the "eye of the beholder" and what their particular tolerance level is. What is offensive to one may just be flirting or bantering to another. What can an employer do to deal with this issue since it is difficult to establish any specific "controls" in this area?

Question 3. Class, now let's discuss the amortization of Accumulated OCI (Gain/Loss). How do you amortize the accumulated Gain/Loss, illustrate with suitable examples. You may quote examples from the balance sheet of a real company as well. Please let me know if you have any questions.
