Scenario: Mark, age 21, grew up in a low income neighborhood where gangs were common. He dropped out of school because it was much more lucrative to engage in criminal behavior. He had been raised by his mother in a single parent family, and he had no siblings, just his gang members. He joined a gang and soon became involved with criminal behavior, including vandalism, stealing cars, and burglaries. Discuss various theories of criminology. What theory category would likely explain his criminal behavior?
