This increase is called the Flynn Effect, and the data indicate that the increase appears to be about 7 points per decade. To demonstrate this phenomenon, a researcher obtained an IQ test that was written in 1986. At the time the test was prepared, it was standardized to produce a population mean of 100. The researcher administered the test to a random sample of 25 high school students and obtained a mean of 121 and a standard deviation of 30.
